Spring skiing week - Jotunheimen - Big mountains in Norway

Description

  • Guided ski touring week, where we are chasing the most spectacular tours combine with the best snow

  • Experience the unreal spectacular mountain area together with an experience guide

  • Refesh your avalanche and ski touring skills

  • The programme is highly felxible and the exact tours that we are gonna do depends very much on the weather and snow conditions

  • It is a spring skiing trip, and that means early mornings, sun, blue skies and corn snow

The adventure starts with arriving at Sognefjellshytta on 6 of May. After arriving, all participants will be lodged for 7 nights in a cosy single room, and enjoy 3 course dinner in the evening.

Day 2-7 will be ski touring days where we are starting early, due to the melt-freeze cycle that are prevailent during this time, so that we may enjoy the best corn snow on the descent.

We aim to stay mostly in Jotunheimen, however we might be doing some trips closer to the fiord and lower down in Jostedalen, all depending on the weather and conditions.

Arriving back during the afternoon on day 7, we are enjoying one last dinner, and hopefully having a farewell party.

13 of May, all participants are leaving from Sognefjellshytta, and from there catching the bus back homeward.

Who is this ski trip for

This is first and foremost a guided trip, where the focus is on finding the best snow and ski touring lines to be found at the moment.

If you are more interested in learning a lot of new skills that you can use later for your own trips, I recommend checking out the:

Avalanche & Ski touring Course

In order to sign up for the trip, you need to have some basic skiing/touring experience from before. However it is not necessary to be a "world champion" or similar. Being able to ski down blue/red runs in a resort with speed control, and having done some backcountry ski trips should do it. If in doubt about whether this is the right trip for you, please contact me and let's discuss further.

The goal is simply to just have a good time, and enjoy the best ski touring that we are able to find in the big mountain area also know as "land of the giants"!

It is mandatory to ski with an approved ski helmet during this trip.

We will further make sure that we are never exceeding out capabilities as a group, for therein lies one of most important aspects of doing ski tours in wild mountain regions!
